A bit early, but Happy 4th! If your in the Worcester area be sure to check out the Summer Nationals and the burnouts... good times. Have fun with whatever your 4th plans may be!

Sun, Jun 29 2008
Hey Vista users, I've got more fun for you folks. I've started work on a Windows sidebar gadget version of the DashBabble. Did you know that Windows Gadgets are very similar to Mac Widgets... I guess when Microsoft copies stuff they don't mess around!

Anyhow, check out the early BETA version here: Download BETA -- it'll be listed under the Software section too!

Fri, Jun 27 2008
The Rectaroids game has been updated to 2.0 - it's worth mentioning because in the new version if you get a score of 10,000 or higher you will recieve a code to unlock bonus content on RectangleClub.com! The new version also features a handful of new features - so check it out. It's located on both their website and here on metalbabble.com in the games section!

Thu, Jun 26 2008
I've uploaded a new game... well, sort of.

If you check out this link you can download and play a very simple version of Asteroids. The game is called Rectaroids, and was created for the band "The Rectangle Club" be sure to check out their site, it should be going live over the next day or so! RectangleClub.com

Mon, Jun 23 2008
Check out the software page for a new addition! I've uploaded a new program called Aerostar which hacks Windows Vista PCs that have Aero/Glass effects disabled. Eventually I would like to add more Vista-tweaking features to Aerostar, but for now - it is what it is. If you're interested in trying it, be sure to read through all the documentation!

More Spore News... I've submitted my THRILLER spore video to the official Spore YouTube dance-off contest. Hop on over, check it out, and vote for the official THRILLER-dancing spore creature of metalbabble.com!

Wed, Jun 18 2008
It's been one year since the new metalbabble v3 design... phew! Time sure does fly!

Wed, Jun 11 2008
Are you a fan of LOLCATs? How about LOLDOGs? Well, here's a fun little widget I just made which displays the latest LOLDOG from http://ihasahotdog.com/

You can get it here: LOLDOG.zip

Better download it now, because I am not sure if I'm going to keep it on the website forever...

Tue, Jun 10 2008
A quick reminder to WAM students... there's no photoshop and web design classes this week. (No classes 6/11/08 and 6/13/08) Enjoy the warm weather!

You may have noticed some tweaks and upgrades to this home page showing all the news and updates. Asides from some visual polish, there's some cool new functionality that's worth a mention. First off, you'll notice each posting has a "share this" feature. This will allow you to easily submit the story to your favorite sites (like MySpace, Digg, or whatever!) But also, if you look at the bottom of the page, there's a popup feature which says "add this" - this is a neat little way to bookmark, share, or submit metalbabble content to other sites.

In other news, the new community page is up and running well, I've posted some ideas for upcoming games and projects on the site. Check it out and have fun!

Tue, Jun 3 2008
Community page updates - part 2! There's even more updates to speak of on the community page, many of them are behind scenes (like swear filters, the automatic conversion of URLs, etc). But up front you should notice some nice interface improvements. Things are arranged a little more logically. And probably the coolest new feature for today is the ability to finally insert images into discussions! So hop on and let me know what you think, or if there's any features you'd like to see added. (Editing posts, perhaps?)

Mon, Jun 2 2008
As you may have noticed, the wacky and wild BabbleBoard has been put out to pasture, so to speak. There have been a lot of factors that led to this decision. For one, the Invision boards are prone to spam attacks. Secondly, ever since last year when I re-did the site it's been my intension on replacing the BabbleBoard with something integrated into the site. Well the community page has just taken a giant step in that direction. Go check it out, it's heavily upgraded. In particular, there is now support for multiple topics! Registered users can create new topics and reply - just like a real message board, LOL.

Fri, May 30 2008
Check out the Desktops and Wallpaper page under the Art-Music section... I've uploaded a couple abstract desktops created using (you gussed it) OE-Cake. But it's worth bringing up the wallpaper page anyways because there's been a lot of new ones in there lately - so I've you haven't been in there for a while, check it out!

Sat, May 24 2008
If you don't care about Earthbound then you can just ignore this update completely. But if you're interested there's some new Giygas artwork. There's a drawing here and also YET ANOTHER desktop... this one's kind of neat though, right here ok, back to our regularly scheduled program.. be sure to check out the bulk digest update below..

Thu, May 22 2008
It's been a busy week. Here's a digest of some of the whats-new around these parts...

1) The new Mac OS X app that colorizes the Terminal (Software)
2) A new game about killing ants (Games)
3) A New desktop AND a new drawing (Art & Music)
4) The re-designed games section (Games)
5) I'm just going to stop here.... explore!

Thu, May 22 2008
Hey Mac hackers, are you sick of OS X's terminal being in black and white? Well check out zoomColor - a new program in the software section which colorizes the Mac OS X terminal. This will color-code file types, highlight keywords, and make the terminal more user-friendly overall. Again, it's under the SOFTWARE section! Oh and don't worry about it hogging memory, it just does a safe little hack to your configuration and away you go... ZOOM!

Tue, May 20 2008
One last update on WAM for now - the calendar is now completely online. You can still subscribe to the iCal format, but if you follow this link, you can check out everything right on the website.
Calendar is here!
Maybe I'll have to write a blog about how awesome iCal and PHPiCalendar are!

Tue, May 20 2008
More WAM news, if you're interested in taking a class with me at the Museum, I am now publishing my WAM calendar to metalbabble.com. Right now the calendar is in iCal format, which means you can view the dates in any compatible software. If you'd like to check it out, click on over to the services page.

Mon, May 12 2008
The new games section is up, now the dozens of games on metalbabble.com are broken into sections such as Arcade, RPG, Puzzle, etc. Hopefully this doesn't complicate things too much - finding a game is still only a few clicks away, and now it's organized much better!
---
Also don't forget to check out the latest game, PicnicPanic!

Sun, May 11 2008
Picnic Panic is done, uploaded, and ready for you to play! From the description:
--- Ants are attacking this picnic, defend your food by strategically placing bug-spray. This puzzle game also features several power ups such as the bane of all ants - the magnifying glass. Check out this strange little action puzzle game today, or the ants win! ---
You can download it right now, under the games section. I'm realizing now that there are dozens of games in there and I'm going to eventually have to redo that section to make things easier to locate... oh well, that's another's day project. Go toast some ants for now! :)

Sat, May 10 2008
Fun stuff coming soon. I have a mini-game on it's way out. Hopefully it'll be done over the next couple days. The game is called PicnicPanic, and essentially it tells the epic struggle of ants trying to eat picnic food. Well, you'll see :)

Fri, May 2 2008
Check out the ole Art and Music section for some new DESKTOPS!
That's right... more from the PK rockin' Earthbound. In the desktops section you'll find two Earthbound-themed desktops. Also, check out the digg link below - Earthbound has been rated for Wii meaning it could possibly appear on Virtual Console any day now - I'll be keeping my fingers crossed.

Digg - Earthbound for Wii given an ESRB rating!

Thu, May 1 2008
More news on the MySpace code... sort of. The first project I've tried to get over to MySpace is an RSS viewer. Basically I've tried to port the RSS merging code that's here on metalbabble.com - sort of how this page is formed. There's some road blocks though, so I may have to approach the problem from a different angle. Still though, stay tuned.

Mon, Apr 28 2008
Just when you thought the Earthbound addiction was over - here's a group of clay-model Mr.Satuns! Link There's another picture of these clay creations on my MySpace page. Oh and I may have completed Earthbound, but there are still two more games in the series left for me to play. I hope the translation project for the 3rd is done by the time I finish the NES Earthbound Zero!

Fri, Apr 25 2008
Two site updates on the same day? Yup, it's one of THOSE days. This is a cool one though, metalbabble.com has gotten the green light from MySpace to use their development platform. This means MySpace will feature applications created by metalbabble.com! If your a MySpace user, keep an eye out for content by metalbabble.com!

Fri, Apr 25 2008
Hello all, the issue with Comcast email -- APPEARS -- to be fixed... but still, keep an eye out.

In other news, there are some new buddy icons/avatars in the Art and Music section - take a look Enjoy!

Wed, Apr 23 2008
A note to metalbabble.com email users - We've noticed we've been black-listed as spam by Comcast (and possibly other email services) I've taken steps to contact them and get us "white listed" -- we'll see how that works out. There is software on the server that stops people from using the accounts for spam purposes (Not that anyone would, but it's possible if you have a virus on your machine) Most likely, some comcast user didn't notice a metalbabble.com email in their inbox and mistakenly flagged it as spam. Hitting the "mark as spam" button does big things - so be careful! Hopefully this issue will be resolved soon!

Tue, Apr 22 2008
Happy Earth Day 2008 :)

Sun, Apr 20 2008
Take a peek at the wallpapers/desktops section Art and Music. There's a new section for Gorillaz desktops! I just uploaded two new ones, so I figure at this point their own heading under that section is warranted. Anyhow they may be inactive right now, but the fan community never rests! :) The two new additions are 1280x800 so they might fit oddly on non-widescreen computers. But it's just perfect for MacBooks!!

Sat, Apr 19 2008
It's been over a week since the last metalbabble.com update - see the beauty of the new design? Even if I don't update metalbabble.com, there's always something wacky to do or see every time you visit. Video, blog, all that good stuff. Anyhow this is indeed a real update, and what's new? Just a few photos uploaded - and Clover, the new MacBook, has found its place on the Wild computers list.

Fri, Apr 11 2008
Check out the Art and Music section, under the digital photos. I've uploaded a new panoramic photo. There's some distortion in it - but it's a neat experiment. It was created using PhotoShop's photo merge feature, but there's plenty of 'free' alternatives to do the same thing (Hugin, for instance) ...But I digress.

Tue, Apr 8 2008
Hope the new home design is treating you well! Just an update on it, the caching is different now. If you've been reading my blog or the community page you'll know I changed the way the site caches. But that's boring - here's something a little more interesting: A new video should be up tonight. Start making the popcorn now :)

Fri, Apr 4 2008
Ok, sorry for the flood of updates! But there's yet ANOTHER new site feature to speak of - and brace yourself, this one's a tad technical! Yes, caching. This home page now caches itself. Why? Well the new page, in order to display, has to grab data from YouTube, Digg, MySpace, MetalBabble AND process it. This takes time to load, which you may have noticed. To solve the problem a cached version is now used - a version that only checks for updates every 5 minutes or so. Now that the technical stuff's out of the way - I just wanted to mention that if anything weird happens (well, weirder than usual) to just let me know!! :)

Fri, Apr 4 2008
Welcome, the page is being updated - so ignore any strange glitches :)

Fri, Apr 4 2008
Do the evolution. Yes indeed, the metalbabble.com home page is evolving. Not only does this page now contain feeds from various sources, it also has been reconfigurized to allow for posts with pictures, links, and video. Either way, hopefully this means you'll have something new and fun each time you visit metalbabble.com.

In other news, there's an in-progress 'about' page which doubles as a site-map. Just click on that purdy PNG in the corner, or just click here.

One last thing, notice now there's a digg link so you can digg any story from metalbabble.com directly... neat!

Thu, Apr 3 2008
Well, here it is. The new home page. What do you think? Right now, this page contains news feed from metalbabble, my blog, my YouTube page, and my Digg(s). As always, any feedback is highly appreciated. For example, I haven't figured out if having digg articles on the front page is good/fun - or just gets in the way. Also, check out the feed links at the bottom of this page. You can view a much more detailed feed by clicking on "all". Enjoy, have fun, and check back for more updates!

Wed, Apr 2 2008
Captain's log, supplemental - Ok, there's a "beta" version of the redesigned homepage. The concept is it's a central hub to all of the sites I usually contribute to. In other words, it displays website updates, blogs, diggs, and more.... all on a single page! Let me know what you think. (You can visit it here: http://metalbabble.com/hub.php

Wed, Apr 2 2008
Hope you all survived April Fool's day. Today I'm working on some enhanced RSS features for the site. Without getting too technical, I'm creating a lot of scripts for the site that will be able to read through various RSS sources. An early example of this can be seen on the Flash Toons page, where an RSS feed of YouTube videos has been added. What I am working on next most likely is going to be a redesign of this "home" page. My idea now is.... we'll you'll see!

Sat, Mar 29 2008
Two new goodies today - first, a new desktop's available under the Art and Music section. Next up, if you have 5 or 6 minutes to kill - there's a completely random video up on the "metalbabbleDotCom" YouTube page. This utterly insane movie is called Randomania and features completely random clips from other popular YouTube videos... actually it's not really something that can be explained, just watch it if you dare!

Tue, Mar 25 2008
Video clips galore! I've uploaded several new video clips of MegaMac 5 and RocketPenguin. The clips feature a rockin' soundtrack and a good variety of levels and play. These clips have been posted to YouTube, and you can access them either on the Extras page, or on the Games page! Enjoy!

Mon, Mar 24 2008
Check out the Extras page for a YouTube link. Yes, that's right - there's finally a metalbabble.com YouTube page. I've uploaded one video so far, a new (old) music video which combines Weird Al's "Christmas at ground zero" to "What's This" by Danny Elfman. Weird stuff, but check it out anyways. There's also a direct link on my MySpace blog.

Tue, Mar 4 2008
Check out the Art and Music section for a new collection of wallpapers called "Deviant Desktops" - they are an ode to the emo-tastic deviant art style that you see online. The style itself is heavily abstract with a lot of specialized PhotoShop brushwork... and is very common in design these days! (Don't believe me, check out the MIX08 logo) But anyways I think you'll enjoy the collection just for the style alone. Just hop on over to the Art and Music section! In other (WAM) news, just a reminder that I am going to be away this week and will not be running classes. Maybe the deviant desktop collection is foreshadowing some of the design fun we'll have at WAM when I get back! :)

Fri, Feb 29 2008
There have been two projects floating around lately - CloverLight and WiiTunes. One has survived - find out which under the software section. Don't feel like clicking? Ok, I'll spoil it for you. WiiTunes has reached alpha level, meaning you can download it right now and try it for yourself. With WiiTunes you can turn your Nintendo Wii into a media center - and play music and video from your computer. There is also a WiiTunes LIVE version which you can check out hosting MP3s off the metalbabble.com server - enjoy!

Wed, Feb 27 2008
If you check the extras section, I've added in a link to my Digg profile page. You can check out recent stories I've dugg and whatnot there. I've been trying to branch out via different networking sites in hopes to broaden the metalbabble.com audience. In WAM news, my classes will not be meeting next week as I will be at MIX08. I don't know if coverage is arranged at this point.

Fri, Feb 15 2008
Over the past two weeks I've spent every second of free time moving stuff into the new place, so this is sort of a light update. But with that mostly done and MIX08 drawing near I'll be more eagerly working on fun stuff like CloverLight.. or some other SilverLight project. But again, no promises!

Thu, Jan 31 2008
Well it's official - we spent the first night in our new house in RI. I've posted some pics to MySpace and FaceBook of the place, so check it out! Since my computers are all packed up, updates might be a tad ... slow! In other website news, RSS is still broken after all. Technically RSS is working, but some feed viewers don't like the quotes and special characters I'm throwing in there. Techie stuff aside, check back for more photos in the art section.

Thu, Jan 24 2008
I'm currently working on a project that I'm calling "CloverLight". I'm not sure how far it's going to get, but basically it's a SilverLight WYSIWYG XAML editor for Mac/Linux/Windows. What is that, you ask? To quote the movie the title is inspired from, "It's a terrible thing."

Sun, Jan 20 2008
Hey.. RSS is working again. This means DashBabble should behave, along with any other source that is drawing the RSS feed from the site. There have been a few upgrades around the site you may notice here and there, I'm currently in the middle of updating the Services page, in particular. And as mentioned in the last few updates, I have a bunch of ideas for different projects - but the next few weeks look to be busy what with the house buying and upcoming move to Rhode Island.

Sat, Jan 19 2008
Well what can I say, Cloverfield is insanely awesome. I've uploaded a drawing of the monster onto metalbabble.com - but in the spirit of the mystery - you'll have to find it yourself. (Before it finds you bwa ha ha) In other news I was playing around with some ideas for new projects. One idea was to revive the wii MP3 player idea - but using Silverlight instead of Flash. Yeah I know. But don't worry I have some Linux/Mac ideas too. More to come.

Thu, Jan 17 2008
Captain's log, supplemental. That fancy PNG down there is for MIX08, a Microsoft-hosted conference for design freaks like me. I will (hopefully) be attending, and it should be quite spiffy indeed. You can learn more about it by clicking on that graphic. Hopefully it will be a chance to learn about some of the new stuff coming out of Redmond, get some new ideas and inspiration, and maybe get the word out on metalbabble.com too!

Thu, Jan 17 2008
Since Vista compatibility is such an issue, I've updated the games page to better reflect what OS variations different games and programs have been tested on. Look for icons for XP, Vista, etc. Hopefully I'll have some time at some point to actually update the older XP-only programs to run under the beast that is Vista!

Wed, Jan 9 2008
Over the last week or so I've been teaching myself Silverlight and playing around with some fun web toys. In particular, I've LEVERAGED an idea for a puzzle game using Scriptastico - the result is Sliderz, which is a small online sliding puzzle that you can play under the games section. Also, there are some new images uploaded under the art section. (New wallpapers and other goodies!) Finally, just a shameless plug, WAM classes are starting up this weekend - also there's still time to sign up for a web design, PhotoShop, or Xpress class. That's all for now!

Tue, Jan 1 2008
Happy new year! 2008 looks to be a fun but busy year. Hopefully there'll be time for some big new projects... in particular I've been revisiting some ideas for a sequel to a major series, but that's all I'm gonna say about it now! For now enjoy the champagne and confetti, and a happy start to 2008!

Fri, Dec 28 2007
Like it or not, Vista is here to stay. I've been trying to slowly go through my old games and software testing/updating them to run under Vista. (Which is actually more challenging then you might expect!) One of my favorite games that I've made is MegaMac 5, so that's first on my list. If you look under the games section, you can download a BETA of 2.0 - the Vista/XP compatible release. Let me know how it runs for you!

Thu, Dec 27 2007
A couple o'updates for ye - there are a few new pictures uploaded in the Art & Music section. (A new buddy icon, Selphie pic, and a wallpaper) Also it appears there is a new bug in RSS, so people using DashBabble or an RSS reader may have noticed odd behavior. Stay tuned! :)

Mon, Dec 24 2007
Happy Holidays from metalbabble.com - Hope all yours wishes this holiday season are coming true.

Sun, Dec 16 2007
Let it snow! ...And since your snowed-in grab a copy of RocketPenguin, now updated to 1.3 The latest version runs in 640x480 for a little extra speed. I've also uploaded a RocketPenguin wallpaper for your computer (under the Art & Music section) Enjoy!

Fri, Dec 14 2007
Released RocketPenguin 1.2 - A few handy features have been added in. You'll notice that you can view a HELP screen from the title, and also disable the music (if your computer is just too slow to deal with that) If you've already downloaded 1.0, updating should not give you any problems. I hope you're all enjoying RocketPenguin - shoot me an email or shout out on the BabbleBoard if you've given it a try.

Thu, Dec 13 2007
IT'S DONE! That's right, RocketPenguin is complete and ready for you to download. (Just in time for the holidays too!) Hop on the GAMES section, and scroll down to give it a try. RocketPenguin stars a lightning fast penguin named Durango. Your mission is to stop the evil pirate Captain Crude (and save your buddies of course.) But that's enough chit-chat - click GAMES and try it now! :)

Tue, Nov 27 2007
RocketPenguin screenshots are posted on the BabbleBoard. I've also posted a remix of the main theme for the game, check out the RocketPenguin thread and development log - both under the community section. After RocketPenguin is complete I'm considering compiling another Soundscrape album - in other words, round up some of the music I wrote for GeoTrip and RocketPenguin (along with some remixed stuff).

Mon, Nov 26 2007
I've posted some screenshots for RocketPenguin - which is coming along quite nicely. I think I've garagebanded-ed up some catchy tunes for it, along with the usual metalbabble-game wackyness. I'm hoping it will be done in time for Christm-er-um-the holidays.

Thu, Nov 22 2007
Happy Thanksgiving, gobble-gobble. Speaking of birds, RocketPenguin is coming along very nicely. I've been writing music for it and have decided to keep it very close to a classic Sonic game. (In other words, similar level structure, power-ups, etc) Hopefully before long I will have some more information and screen shots. The penguin's name is Durango, he runs around collecting rings and chaos zirconias.... you're gonna love it :)

Mon, Nov 19 2007
I'm currently working on a platformer game called RocketPenguin. I'm not sure how far I'll get with the project (tis a busy time of year) But I'm feeling inspired and optimistic about this one! :) Basically, the game is a fast-paced platformer, similar to the Sonic the Hedgehog series. Actually if you check either the BabbleBoard or 'development blog' you can download a demo of the RocketPenguin engine. Stay tuned for more!

Thu, Nov 15 2007
More social networking news. First, I've overhauled my FaceBook page. Although that doesn't sound too exciting at first glance, it's worth a mention because I've integrated metalbabble.com news into a feed accessible on that page. That, and the addition of a new FaceBook group might help bring some new visitors to the site. In other news, you can read all about the house we put an offer on - in my MySpace blog. If you happen to visit that page, check out the video section - I've uploaded a game-play clip of the never-released sequel to Ninja Gnat. (Nix 2 - Nix of Time)

Mon, Nov 5 2007
I've added a LinkedIn link to the contact page. If you are a member of that site, check it out and add me in! :) Is it just me or is the social networking site thing getting out of hand? Maybe somebody needs to create a webpage or service to round them all up into one place. Nah that'd be ugly. Anyways, a very late happy halloween to everyone!

Mon, Oct 22 2007
Just an update on the Gemini article. It's in the Fall 07 issue of 'Worcester Statement'. If you'd like to take a peek at the article, I've put a snapshot of it on my MySpace page. I will also post a link on my 'development blog' aka my metalbabble.com profile page! Check it out - if you look carefully you'll see the computer in the photograph is displaying metalbabble.com!

Sun, Oct 21 2007
If you receive the WSC alumni newsletter keep an eye out for a full article about the Gemini game engine and its win at CCSCE06. Also if anybody is interested in some Florida pics I've uploaded a few of them to my MySpace page.

Mon, Oct 1 2007
Happy 3rd birthday to Selphie - for her birthday she's gotten several rope-bones, treats, bones, toys, and a trip to have her nails done! Woof!

Sat, Sep 22 2007
Two words for you. DASHBOARD WIDGET. Thaaaaat's right! MetalBabble.com now has its very own Dashboard widget for Mac OS X. With it you'll be able to see what's going on at metalbabble.com - right from your dashboard. (Sorry Vista users I'm still protesting GADGETS!) Anyhoo, you'll find the widget listed under the Software page.

Wed, Sep 19 2007
Ahoy n' jolly talk-like-a-pirates day to ye all. As ye can see that scuuuurvy RSS (Arr-SS!) feed be workin like charm once more! Now ye land lubbers can use ye live-book marking feature without walkin the plank! Lastly dogs, there be a community page update in the works. Yarr!!!

Thu, Sep 6 2007
GravityGolf is complete, and you can download it from the games page! Once again, the object is to place ramps, magnets, fans, and other objects to guide the ball to the goal. There are plenty of levels, objects, and puzzles to keep you pulling your hair out for hours.

Tue, Sep 4 2007
I'm currently working on a small game called GravityGolf. The idea is, a golf ball is dropped from above and objects (such as pipes and ramps) must be placed such that the ball reaches the goal. Yay for physics?

Mon, Sep 3 2007
Yaht-P has been updated to 1.1 - there was indeed a small bug that caused players to only receive 25 bonus points instead of 35 points... so play it again and rack up a high score!

Thu, Aug 30 2007
Whoo-hoo! The Yahtzee game has been completed! It's called Yaht-P, and you can find it in the GAMES section. The game is completely online, meaning you can play on mac/pc/linux... and even more exciting... save your high scores online, so we'll all be able to compete against each other - fun!

Mon, Aug 13 2007
Many off-site updates. In other words, the BabbleBoard and the metalbabble.com MySpace page have seen the most updates recently. The only updates on the actual site are in the services area (links to metalbabble.com-designed sites) and a few new photos. I had an idea for an on-site game based on Yahtzee. The idea is members would log in with their metalbabble.com and compete for higher scores... more info coming soon.... um maybe!

Tue, Jul 31 2007
A few new pictures, desktops, and photos have been added to the art & music section. Also, have you noticed the direct link to the BabbleBoard at the bottom of every page? I figured you all would enjoy the convenience!

Thu, Jul 26 2007
Mini-update: There have been a few changes to some of the main pages, a few new images up, and an update to the Astro web browser. Astro is near-running under MONO for Linux and Mac users, however the page rendering is still reliant on too much windows-based .net architecture. I am considering opening the source on the project, contact me if you are interested. As far as my next big project I have several ideas, which I'll probably blab about on the Babbleboard or in my development blog.

Tue, Jul 24 2007
Quick update. RSS has been down and is being worked on, for anybody using live bookmarking. Also check out the babbleboard for a possible sequal to GeoTrip More info coming soon!

Fri, Jul 20 2007
Captains log, supplemental. If you are stuck or frustrated with GeoTrip then take a break and play Ms.PacDude - just run around blue mazes, eat pellets, and avoid the ghosts. Also, a word of warning, it appears Hot Topic is being run by Decepticons. Roll out!

If MySpace wasn't bad enough, now metalbabble.com is on FaceBook. You can find the link on the extras or contact page. In other news, the BabbleBoard has undergone some reorganization. Not the nasty corporate-style reorganization, there's actually MORE there now! And of course, if you haven't played GeoTrip yet, go check that out!

A couple of new things - first off there has been a minor change to the way new members are processed. It appears to work but please contact me if you are a new site member having trouble signing up. Next up, GeoTrip as I've mentioned is online but an update is on it's way. I'm actually just trying to get my installer program to UPDATE GeoTrip 1.0 while preserving your save game, I'll keep you posted on that. Last but not least, there are new wallpapers and buddy icons available in the art & music section.

GEOTRIP IS READY TO ROLL! As the description states: you'll run, roll, bounce, float, break, and fly through over 70 levels of abstract trippiness! Download the game now, and get rolling!

Sat, Jul 14 2007
Progress update - GeoTrip is 10 levels away from being done. That sounds like a lot, but there are over 70 in the game! (Well that and I still have to write the music for it.) Anyhow it should be a pretty unique and fun game! Speaking of games, the games page had a glitch in FireFox and is now fixed up - so download away!

Here are four new screenshots from GeoTrip. Most of the "hard stuff" is out of the way and all that's really left is level design and graphics. Which is a lot of fun for this particular game. I think these screen shots illustrate the abstract nature of GeoTrip. It'd be done sooner but there's a Taurus sitting outside that needs my attention first! :)

GeoTrip is coming along nicely, here is your first glimpse at gameplay. I will try to keep the development blog up to date with progress. Stay tuned!

Thu, Jul 5 2007
Just a small update: there's a leafy new desktop aka wallpaper up in the art & music section. As far as project progress I'm working mostly on GeoTrip. If you haven't heard, GeoTrip is an abstract and experimental platformer/sidescroller. Yes that does about cover it, but you can check out the development blog to read more ramblings on it. (PS - Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July!)

Congratulations to Eric and Lisa Martin, who were married this past weekend (June 30th) I've added a couple photos of the day to my MySpace pictures page. In other news, the metalbabble.com web mail is at a solid "beta" level of completeness. I will add a link directly on the Community page for you to try it out! Last but not least, I have an idea for a new game. Yeah yeah, I know.

The new metalbabble.com email program is already useable if you want to try it out. I've provided detailed information about it in my development blog on my metalbabble.com profile here. At this point it is working, but the messages are not formatted well, and attachments aren't working. But it's a a start - check it out! If/when it gets to the point where it's really working well I plan on taking the code and developing a downloadable email client like Outlook or Thunderbird that you can use to check any pop3 email with.

Now that the new site is up and running I can return to the myriad of projects I've been in the middle of. The project that will probably take center stage is a new one: an email client! Yes there currently is mail through metalbabble.com but my idea is to create a mail client from the ground up that will replace mail2web for metalbabble.com's web mail - and pave the way for a cool mail program that you can download and use to check ANY pop3 email. Besides that the pirate game is not off the radar yet, but I am quickly loosing interest in it - so it's probably going to join Nix 2 in eternal project limbo.

MySpace users - I've uploaded a new mini-program under the extras section which allows you to easily set up custom styles for MySpace pages. I'm also still working on doing similar sorts of things for metalbabble.com's member profile pages - custom images and whatnot. If you have any ideas or feature requests, be sure to let me know - or shout out your idea on the community page!

Wed, Jun 20 2007
Mini-update: The WAP version of the site is back up, for anybody who is crazy enough to visit metalbabble.com with their cell phones and such. Also, some updates to the community section - including a member directory - check it out!

Hopefully everbody is enjoying the new site design and features. We've caught a few small bugs and there have been a bunch of little additions here and there. If you haven't set up a membership account yet, go for it. The BabbleBoard account is still seperate, but I'm looking into that. The profile and blog editors now have links which make it easier to insert pictures and links into your posts. Have fun!

Ta-da! Welcome to the new metalbabble.com - asides from updated looks I've added TONS of new features to the site. Below are some of the updates during development and even further down you'll find the news from the old version of the site. A good place to start might be the community section where you can set up an account to post messages, blog, and do all sorts of fun stuff! ENJOY!

Today's new feature - BLOGS! That's right, members of metalbabble.com now get their own blog. I plan on using mine to post project status updates and such - but check it out for yourself under the Community page!

I'm currently in the process of data-entry. Now that the entire site is database-driven I am entering every single art, music, flash toon, game, and program into the site. But progress is stready and this site will see the light of day before too long!

Thu, Jun 14 2007
Updates on the new version of metalbabble - you can now check your email directly on the page! Check out the community page for more info!

Wed, Jun 13 2007
Another new feature of the website is the community section. This sort of enhances the idea of the babbleboard and astro bookmarks into one entity.

Wed, Jun 13 2007
Just two more posts to go! I hope you all like the new design of the web page, I think it's a little more "modern"

Wed, Jun 13 2007
There are going to be a ton of posts today because I am trying to test out the "archive" feature. The news page will show the 5 newest news entries, and the rest will fall into the archive automatically! The RSS should show everything. (Maybe eventually it'll just show the top 50 or something)

Wed, Jun 13 2007
Check out the "search" feature, which is a new addition to metalbabble.com. It will search through games, art, etc

Wed, Jun 13 2007
Welcome to metalbabble.com VERSION 3! The first of many new features can be found right here - a database driven news page - which means not only will there be a spiffy way to post new things, but also an archive of older posts. However the most exciting new addition is probably the RSS feed. (Also known as live-bookmarking) Which can be found in the Safari and FireFox web browsers. (Maybe IE too I have no idea!)

Here are some older posts from the old version of the page.... 6/12/07 If you haven't been by the Extras page lately, check it out - there have been several updates (for example the computer section was completely redesigned into a single page) You can also grab the latest copy of Lumina which I have made some minor tweaks too. In other news I am considering putting the pirate RPG on hold to re-re-re-visit the idea of redesigning the entire website. (Hey if Apple did it.......) 6/11/07 2:30PM... Capitan's Log, supplemental. Thanks to the magic of the Internet I was able to watch the keynote - which is just concluding now. To summarize, I was HALF right. They did in fact unviel the new look for Leopard... very nice. However unless they are not revealing the full "Luminous" now, most of the windowing appearance is remaining the same! Aside from other big news - SAFARI FOR WINDOWS - that's about it! As far as actual metalbabble.com news, I'm currently working on a project you can read about here. 6/11/07 10:00AM... In just a few hours Apple will be changing the world... again... maybe! The rumors are that Leopard is going to be completely unveiled at WWDC. My theory is one of the big secrets is an all-new look and interface for Mac OS X (called Luminous) A week ago, I made Lumina - my guess of what it might look like. Let's see how close I was. (2 hours... 3 minutes....) 6/7/07 Even more good news for Linux peeps: A few years back I made a little RPG for DOS called Neverborn Zero... Well today, it's now available under Linux! Here it is! 6/5/07 Ok Linux fans - I've got some good news! First off, introducing Lumina - a spiffy new user interface for linux. (Here's hoping this one catches on!) Next I've started some work on my knoppix-based linux distrobution. It's running Wine and Mono - but not to the point that it can actually play metalbabble.com games very well. (And of course, I'm using the Lumina interface for it) Lastly, I've been hacking arround with theme manager code for Gnome in hopes to make it a bit easier for people to make new themes like Lumina in the future. (PS: Sorry for the service interruption over the weekend - looks like we're back in business now!) 5/5/07 If you've been under the EXTRAS section lately, you may have noticed a link to a Windows version of my Astro web browser! Astro is built in .NET and features the web-based bookmarking that I built into the original Mac version. Eventually I hope to incorperate the web-bookmarking into metalbabble.com, so that we have some community-based (ahem digg style) bookmarking. Also, Gemini stikes again. Keep your eyes open for a copy of the magazine "The Worcester Statement" as they've interviewed me for my video game work. (And of course I've put in a shameless plug for the site!) 4/25/07 Lots of new goodies on the site. First off, a whole "new album". It's a collection of songs I've written for various video games. (Nix 2, RT2, Bubbzzle, etc) Find it under the music section. Also I've uploaded 4 drawings from Neverborn Zero into the art section. (If you've played the game it's basically my high-res versions of some of the art used for the memory crystals.) So I guess none of the said goodies are "new" but... well enjoy anyways! 4/24/07 After years of resisting it, I have finally gave into the growing darkness that is MySpace. The link to the page is over on the right side bar. Go check it out, and add me - as not having any "friends" on it is kind of depressing :) 4/23/07 How often does a sequel come out so closely to the original? (This might be a new record.) Check out Bubbzzle 2... this version features improved graphics, more levels, new power-ups, and a level editor. If you haven't experienced the bubbly goodness of the first Bubbzzle, then download that one too! :) 4/18/07 NEW GAME! Check out Bubbzzle! The idea is simple - pop bubbles. Did I mention that you have to pop them with.... a cannon? Yarr... 4/6/07 Introducing: NearZero! ...Not to be confused with NIN's YearZero - YearZero is like American Idiot with machine noises, NEAR Zero is like AdAware for the boot process. Learn more here... if you dare mwa ha ha. 3/29/07 Back by unpopular demand, is the "Cars" section of metalbabble.com, it's hidden under the extras page. Also: some groundwork has been done on two seperate projects. One of them the the 3d MegaMac X, you can find out more on the BabbleBoard! 3/9/07 In the spirit of ripping off Nintendo, we've added an "Everyone Votes" forum to the BabbleBoard. Hop on, create your own polls, and predict the outcomes - and then fight about it! Also, if you check under the games section: A very tiny minigame has been uploaded called Spaceballz. You don't get to cruise around in a Winnebago or anything - it's mostly just space and... nevermind.
